GigaDevice (stock code: 603986.SH; 3986.HK), a leading semiconductor component supplier, has announced the launch of three new three-phase brushless motor-specific gate drivers – GD30DR1001, GD30DR1401, and GD30DR1901. The products precisely cover the mainstream voltage platforms of 40V/120V/600V. With high integration, strong driving capability and excellent reliability, they provide a one-stop motor drive solution for consumer electronics, household appliances, power tools and industrial equipment. The release of this new product further expands GigaDevice’s motor drive chip portfolio, facilitating the creation of more compact, efficient and stable motor control systems.
Covering multiple voltage platforms and precisely matching application requirements
With the increasing demands for motor control performance from intelligent devices, electric tools, and industrial automation, system design is facing higher challenges in terms of efficiency, reliability, and integration. The three analog devices launched by Microchip this time all adopt a three-phase independent half-bridge architecture, are compatible with 3.3V/5V logic inputs, and support direct driving of MOSFET or IGBT power devices. By simplifying the system design, they effectively reduce the overall BOM cost and development complexity.
GD30DR1001 is a 40V three-phase gate driver chip for P/N MOSFET power transistors. It operates with a power supply voltage ranging from 5.5V to 40V, is compatible with 3.3V/5V input logic, and integrates a 5V LDO with a load current of 50mA, capable of powering the internal logic and external MCU of the chip. The chip integrates multiple protection functions such as under-voltage protection and input direct connection protection, has a built-in 60ns dead time, and is packaged in a highly integrated SOP16/QFN16 format. This model is suitable for applications such as floor fans, air purifiers, and small pumps and valves with DC brushless motors.
GD30DR1401 is a chip that integrates three independent half-bridge gate driver chips, specifically designed to drive dual N-channel channel high-voltage MOSFET power transistors or GaN. The floating offset voltage is +120V. It is compatible with 3.3V/5V input logic, integrates a 5V LDO with a load current of 100mA and a 12V control circuit, and has an output current capacity of IO + 2.0A/-2.5A. It has built-in dead time, under-voltage protection, and direct connection prevention safety protection functions. This model is suitable for applications such as server fans, civilian drones, power tools, garden tools, cleaning appliances, and kitchen appliances.
GD30DR1901 also integrates three independent half-bridge gate driver chips, capable of driving dual N-channel channel high-voltage MOSFET power transistors or IGBT. The floating offset voltage is +600V. It is compatible with 3.3V/5V input logic, integrates a 5V LDO with a load current of 50mA, and has built-in dead time, under-voltage protection, and direct connection prevention safety protection functions. This model is suitable for applications such as personal care, white goods, industrial frequency converters, high-voltage fans/pumps, and photovoltaic inverters.
The design advantages that balance integration, reliability and ease of use
The GD30DR1001/GD30DR1401/GD30DR1901 series have undergone systematic optimization in terms of architecture design and functional integration. By integrating key functional modules within a single chip and introducing comprehensive protection mechanisms and standardized interfaces, this series simplifies system design while further enhancing overall operational stability and development efficiency.
High-integration architecture, simplifying system design
The single chip integrates LDO, dead zone control and various protection functions. Some models are equipped with a self-boost diode, effectively reducing the use of external diodes, discrete resistors and voltage regulators. This highly integrated design not only lowers the BOM cost but also significantly simplifies the PCB layout, improving the system compactness and overall reliability.
Multiple protection mechanisms enhance the robustness of the system.
The device is equipped with comprehensive protection functions, including under-voltage lockout (UVLO), power transistor direct current protection, and LDO short-circuit protection, which can effectively prevent potential risks caused by low-voltage driving and the direct connection of upper and lower transistors. Combined with the wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, it enables long-term stable operation in high-temperature and high-electromagnetic-interference environments, meeting the requirements of industrial-level applications.
Standardized interface design accelerates system development
Supports 3.3V/5V logic input interfaces, which can be directly connected to mainstream microcontrollers such as Meguiarx GD32 MCU, facilitating the construction of a complete motor control solution of “MCU + Driver”. The standardized interfaces and driver architecture help to lower the design threshold, shorten the development cycle, and accelerate the product introduction and mass production process.
Currently, GD30DR1001/GD30DR1401/GD30DR1901 have all been fully open for sample applications and achieved mass production. The entire series adopts standard reel packaging form, supporting the requirements of automated production, and can help customers quickly implement product deployment and seize the market opportunity.
