Emerson today released the TESCOM “RC-X injection rate electric regulating valve. This product enables precise and repeatable quantitative injection of chemical agents at sea, maintaining flow assurance for refining enterprises and reducing the total cost of injection operations.
Flow assurance is a key aspect in the design and operation of offshore oil and gas production facilities. As the industry continues to expand into deeper waters, longer runback distances, deeper oil and gas wells, and higher temperature and pressure reservoirs, the importance of flow assurance becomes even more prominent. In these environments, issues such as hydration, corrosion, wax, asphaltene, scaling, and emulsification deposition can all limit flow.
Refining enterprises typically use chemical injections to alleviate blockage problems. However, either excessive or insufficient chemical injection can have adverse effects. Excessive injection not only increases chemical agent consumption and costs, but also increases the frequency of on-site replenishment of the agent storage tanks, and may also affect downstream processing or treatment processes, causing pollution penalties. Insufficient injection fails to achieve the desired effect and may endanger equipment integrity, affecting production.
Emerson’s Product Marketing Manager for Fluid and Motion Control, Julia Vi11a, said: “In deep water and high-temperature high-pressure conditions, controlling the injection volume of chemical agents reasonably helps prevent blockages and unstable flow, maintains fluid flow, protects equipment integrity, and improves production efficiency.” “The TESCOM RC-X injection rate electric regulating valve is designed specifically for chemical agent injection at sea and can be used in conjunction with the high precision (MicroMotionTM) Coriolis mass flowmeter to complete precise dosing and reduce downtime and waste caused by excessive injection of the agent.
The TESCOM RC-X regulating valve features a short-stroke design (less than 1/8 inch) and can maintain high-precision regulation even under a maximum pressure of 15,000 pounds per square inch, and supports extremely low-flow regulation, covering a flow range of 0.02 – 500 liters per hour. The product supports 4-20A control signals, enabling high-repetitive precise control and ensuring flow safety. The electric actuator does not require an air source and is more advantageous in scenarios with insufficient or unstable air supply.
The TESCOM RC-X regulating valve offers both medium-pressure and high-pressure models, with a modular design, lightweight, and compact structure. Its motor occupies less space than similar chemical agent injection regulating products, facilitating users to design lighter skid-mounted systems.
Compared with similar products, it has fewer internal movable components, reducing the risk of mechanical failures during long-term operation, improving operational consistency, and reducing maintenance requirements. The product is explosion-proof, with a protection level of IP67, meeting the requirements of NACE R175 standard.
The MicroMotion Coriolis mass flowmeter is designed to meet the needs of various industries and can accurately and repeatably measure the mass flow of liquids, gases, or slurries.
