The VMIVME-3122 (also known as the VMIVME-3122A) is a high-resolution, high-density 16-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) board designed for VMEbus system applications. Originally developed by VMIC (later acquired by GE Automation/Fanuc, and now under Abaco Systems/AMETEK), this board continuously digitizes multiple analog input channels and stores the results in its on-board dual-ported data memory.

By utilizing on-board timers and an automated programmable interrupter, it offloads heavy analog data traffic processing from the host CPU, ensuring efficient real-time data acquisition.

Important Considerations & Precautions (注意事项)

  • Handling & ESD Protection: This board contains highly sensitive CMOS components. Always use standard Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) wrist straps and grounded mats during installation or removal to prevent latent board damage.
  • Pin Alignment: Take extra care when mating the 96-pin VME backplane and front-facing I/O connectors. Forceful insertion can bend or break the pins.
  • Power Sequencing: Ensure the VME chassis is fully powered off before inserting or extracting the board (No Hot-Swapping unless specified by your particular rack configuration).
  • Firmware & Software Drivers: Ensure that the conversion rates and scanning modes configured in your software environment (such as VxWorks or Linux VME drivers) do not exceed the board’s physical limits (100 kHz max).
  • Thermal Management: High-density analog sampling can generate heat. Ensure your VME enclosure provides adequate forced-air cooling across the card slots.
