The GE 180 ES-2RS is a heavy-duty, metric radial spherical plain bearing requiring maintenance. It features a steel-on-steel sliding contact surface treated with molybdenum disulfide (MoS_2) to reduce friction during run-in. Designed with double-lip rubber seals (2RS) on both sides, it retains grease while protecting the internal sliding surface against dust, moisture, and debris.
Its design allows it to accommodate heavy radial loads, moderate axial loads in either direction, and multi-directional tilting or alignment movements.

Precautions & Maintenance Notes
- Regular Lubrication Required: Unlike maintenance-free (PTFE-lined) bearings, steel-on-steel bearings must be regularly lubricated with lithium-based or heavy-duty industrial grease containing EP (extreme pressure) additives.
- Initial Greasing: Prior to initial operation, fill the bearing cavity and lubrication grooves with grease to ensure adequate initial protection.
- Proper Installation Technique: Apply force only to the ring being mounted (e.g., inner ring for shaft mounting, outer ring for housing mounting). Never transmit mounting forces through the spherical sliding surfaces.
- Avoid High RPMs: Spherical plain bearings are engineered for slow-speed rotational, oscillating, or tilting movements—not continuous high-speed rotation.
- Seal Temperature Limits: Standard rubber seals operate safely up to +130°C; do not exceed this limit to avoid damaging the elastomer seal lips.
