The GE Panametrics AquaTrans AT868 is a loop-powered, cost-effective, and highly reliable ultrasonic liquid flow transmitter. Designed primarily for water and wastewater applications in full pipes, it combines state-of-the-art ultrasonic flow measurement with a low-profile transmitter package that can be installed directly at the process measurement point.

Utilizing patented Correlation Transit-Time™ technology, it provides drift-free, precise measurements without any moving parts, drastically minimizing maintenance overhead. It supports both non-intrusive clamp-on transducers (which eliminate the need to cut pipes or shut down processes) and wetted transducers (for higher baseline accuracy).

Important Considerations & Precautions (Precautions)

  • Straight Pipe Run Requirements: To achieve the stated accuracy, ensure a fully developed flow profile. This typically requires a minimum of 10 diameters upstream and 5 diameters downstream of straight, unobstructed pipe away from valves, pumps, or bends.
  • Full Pipe Condition: The system relies on ultrasonic signal transit. The pipe must be completely full of liquid at all times; empty or partially full pipes will cause error codes or signal loss.
  • Acoustic Couplant: For clamp-on installations, always apply a generous, uniform layer of ultrasonic couplant grease between the transducer face and the pipe wall to eliminate air gaps.
  • Air Bubbles & Solids: While highly capable, severe aeration (heavy air bubbles) or excessive solid slurry content can block the ultrasonic signal path.
  • Wiring Safety: Ensure the power supply is completely turned off before opening the IP66 enclosure or making changes to the internal terminals.
