4. Key Precautions & Operating Notes
- VFD Usage & Shaft Currents: When pairing GE motors with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), ensure shaft grounding rings or insulated bearings are installed to prevent bearing fluting caused by parasitic shaft voltage.
- Lubrication Management: Avoid over-greasing or mixing incompatible grease types. Follow the specified lubrication intervals based on ambient temperature and runtime.
- Ambient & Altitude Derating: For operation in ambient temperatures exceeding 40^circC (104^circF) or at altitudes higher than 3,300 ft (1,000 m), thermal power derating must be applied.
- Moisture & Storage Protection: Ensure condensation drain plugs are cleared at the lowest point during operation. Space heaters should be energized when the motor is idle to prevent moisture buildup within the stator windings.
